Pop into the Illinois Street Food Emporium on Friday evenings for kids eat free (with the purchase of an adult meal). Located on the corner of 56th and Illinois St. this neighborhood go-to serves soup, sandwich, and salad options with fresh (and many local) ingredients, as well as breakfast items. The dessert selection is unmatched, and you can purchase delicious cakes, pies, and pastries to go.

The Emporium’s atmosphere is casual with at-the-counter ordering. They have crayons, coloring pages, and high chairs as well as free Wi-Fi. Kids’ meals include grilled cheese (with optional ham, turkey, or bacon) and hot dogs and come with chips or oranges. Parking can be found along Illinois Street or in the lot next door. Parents will like the speed, price, and beer and wine selection and kids will like the big portions and the treats.
