Mesmerizing. That’s the one-word description of the new documentary Humpback Whales. The gorgeous cinematography in this 40 minute film captures the magnificence of these giants while giving a brief history of their relationship with the human race. While the information is complex at times the images are simple and beautiful.
This was my 2.5 year old’s first theater experience and he didn’t move his eyes from the screen (except when he needed me to readjust his glasses). This film appeals to all ages with the wonderful images of the enormous whales and the heartbreaking history of their hunting and the evolution of our understanding of their species.
Bottom Line: If you like-ish animals and/or movies GO! Park in the State Museum/Eiteljorg/NCAA parking lot on Washington St., tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $7 for children (2 and under are free).
